Start by entering your vehicle's current odometer reading in the Odometer field. The  icon to the right will give you two options on how you would like this information displayed.

1) Absolute odometer reading:

2) Distance from previous fuel-up:

*For example, if the odometer at your last fuel-up read 5,975 (mi) and your current odometer reading is 6,400 (mi), aCar will calculate the difference between the two readings -- in this case 425 (mi).

Continue by completing the Price per Gallon and Volume fields. The Total Cost field will be calculated automatically.*

*Sometimes you may recall your Total Cost (i.e. $20 cash paid to attendant) and the Price per Gallon (i.e. $2.63/gal), but you may not recall the Volume. That's okay. aCar only requires 2 out of 3 fields -- the remaining field can be calculated using this information. This also works if you know the Volume and Total Cost, but have forgotten the Price per Gallon.

If this is a partial fuel-up or if you missed entering your last fuel-up, check the appropriate box. This will ensure your average MPG is not miscalculated.*

*A Partial Fuel-Up is any fuel-up where you are unable to completely fill your tank. When this box is checked, aCar will not calculate MPG for that fuel-up until your next full fuel-up. The Missed Fuel-Up box allows you to account for a fuel-up that wasn't entered into aCar without throwing off your MPG. When this box is checked, aCar won't calculate your MPG until your next complete fuel-up.

Your Vehicle Name will automatically appear in the Vehicle field. If you have more than one vehicle, simply tap the gray triangle in the corner of the field and select accordingly. The Date/Time field will default to the current date and time. This can be changed to any future or past date as appropriate by selecting the gray triangle.

Adding a Payment Type is optional. To do so, simply click on the Payment Type Field and enter the appropriate information, i.e. credit card, cash, etc. aCar will save each payment type you enter for future use. Next, select the Category and Type (Octane) of fuel used on your fuel-up from the two dropdown menus.

You can also choose to include the Brand/Location where you fueled-up. Nearby fueling stations gives you a list of fueling stations in your area. The Address field will automatically populate with the address of the station you select. To make things even easier at the pump, the Light Bulb  icon automatically selects the fueling station closest to your current location.*

*To turn off Location Tracking select the  icon and tap Turn OFF Location Tracking (GPS). To turn back on, simply repeat.
