This is for the aCar app. For the Fuelly.com or GasCubby app FAQ, please see: Fuelly.com FAQ or GasCubby FAQ.
I'm interested in upgrading to Premium. What features will I get?
Premium removes ads and gives you the ability to add photos and PDF files to records.
To download Pro, please open the Play Store app, go to My Apps & Games and you can download the aCar Pro Unlocker here. You can sort alphabetically to find it more easily. If you do not find it, please look in your Purchased apps list.
We have pulled the unlocker from sale, so you will not be able to find it by searching the app store, but you will be able to download it by following the above directions.
I am a donor via the old PayPal system, but I've forgotten my Donation ID and cannot upgrade to Pro! How do I retrieve it?

I have records in a CSV file that have been export from Excel (or some other software/application) and I would like to bring them into aCar. What should I do?
Once inside the Import/Export Center, scroll down to the Import block. If the name of the software or application your records originated from is listed, tap the corresponding icon to import your records. If not, tap the Plain CSV (Excel/Office) icon instead.
The Plain CSV Import option will provide you with a dynamic column-field mapping tool to help import any type of standard CSV file you may have. Please be sure to read the help and usage tips listed in order to ensure a successful import.
What fields/columns does aCar import from using the Plain CSV Import screen?
Any of the input fields (with the exception of those that are calculated) listed in aCar can be mapped and imported via the dynamic column-field mapping tool available using the Plain CSV Import option.
Where does aCar expect to find the CSV files to import from?
The CSV files must be stored within the zonewalker-acar directory in the local storage of your phone/tablet (either on the SD-Card or in internal storage, depending on the device brand/model).
I have made a backup of my data (or exported it), but I don't know where the files are stored. Where are they?
All backups are stored within the zonewalker-acar directory in the local storage of your phone/tablet (either on the SD-Card or in internal storage, depending on the device brand/model).
My backups (or exported CSV files) exist in the proper directory on my SD-Card and my phone/tablet is NOT connected to my computer, but aCar cannot see any of them to restore or import from! Where are they?
Some phones have their internal storage set as the primary one. aCar searches for your files on the internal storage of the device rather than the SD-Card. This means you should copy your files to the zonewalker-acar directory inside the local storage so that aCar can see/read them.
How do I move to a new phone or tablet?
If you're using the PRO edition:
If you're using the FREE edition:
My phone/tablet comes with internal storage only and doesn't have an SD-card. Where should I copy my backups (from my old phone tablet) to restore my data from?
You should copy your backup files to the zonewalker-acar directory on the internal storage of your phone/tablet.
I have performed a backup of my data (or exported my data) and have sent it to Dropbox, Google Drive, or an email inbox. How can I tell aCar to access that file to restore/import it again?
Unfortunately, aCar cannot access your Dropbox, Google Drive or email inbox directly. To solve this, manually copy your backup file to the zonewalker-acar directory on the internal storage of your phone/tablet or the SD-Card (depending on the model/brand of your device).
Why doesn't the last fuel-up record have a Fuel Efficiency (MPG) calculation assigned to it?
By default, the Fuel Efficiency Calculation method is set to assign fuel efficiency to the previous fuel-up record. To change this, go into application Settings and change the Fuel Efficiency Calculation method to Current Record.
Fuel Efficiency calculations will also not appear on your current fuel-up if your previous fuel-up was marked Partial.
Why don't I see any fuel efficiency (MPG) calculations even though I've entered a couple of fuel-up records?
Each partial fuel-up or a group of continuous partial fuel-ups must be surrounded by two (2) FULL TANK fuel-up records (i.e. no non-partial and non-missed fuel-ups). To function correctly, the Fuel Efficiency calculation formula requires full tank records. Additionally, any fuel-up record marked as a missed fuel-up breaks continuity of the records. As a result, fuel efficiency cannot be calculated in such cases.
How is the total cost of a trip calculated?
Any expense record you enter between the start [odometer] and end [odometer] of a trip will be included as part of the cost. Additionally, the average cost of fuel-ups and services per distance unit (i.e. mile) will be applied to the trip length and will be calculated as part of the total cost of the trip.
I'm entering a new fuel-up/service/expense record, but aCar won't save it because it's not in sync with sibling records. What does this mean?
aCar records must exist in-sync with one another to function properly. For example, if you have an existing record dated May 15, 2013 with an odometer reading of 85,780 (mi), you CANNOT enter a new record dated May 15, 2013 with an odometer reading less than that of the previous record (i.e. 85,458 mi). In the same token, if your odometer reading is greater than that of the previous entry, the calendar date you enter must be either the same or later than the date of the previous entry.
What is a partial fuel-up and when should I mark my fuel-up record as partial?
Partial fuel-ups act as a marker to assist in the fuel efficiency (MPG) calculation process. A partial fuel-up means you have not filled your tank to the maximum, regardless of how much fuel was in the tank previously.
When should I mark my fuel-up record as a Missed-FillUp and what is it for?
Missed-FillUps act as a marker to assist in the fuel efficiency (MPG) calculation process (it resets the statistics from that record and starts over). MissedFuel-Ups mean you performed fuel-ups without entering them before the current record (and don't ever plan on doing so).
How do I record my fuel-ups, services and expenses during a trip?
Simply start your trip record and start recording fuel-ups, services and expenses. Once you have completed your trip, finish your trip record by entering in the end odometer reading. From there, go to the Browse Records screen, find that particular trip record and tap it to view the details. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen to find the costs associated with that particular trip.

I've sold my vehicle and no longer wish to receive reminders for it on my aCar app. How do I get rid of them?
From the Console, tap the Vehicle Details icon. To select your desired vehicle, tap the name of the current vehicle the header. A dropdown menu will appear listing all the vehicles you have entered. Select the appropriate vehicle, then click the
icon to see the Retire option.
Retiring your vehicle retains all of that vehicle's stats and logs, even though you may no longer be driving it. You can reactivate vehicles at any time by simply clicking the
icon in the Vehicle Details screen and selecting Activate.
Why don't I see any active service reminders (in the Reminders Center) even though I have already set them up for my vehicle?
You need to input at least one service record (for the service type you wish to be reminded of) in order for aCar to keep track of future reminders.
I've already upgraded to Pro, but I can't see find the option that allows me to change the language/locale. Where is it?
First, make sure aCar supports your desired language. Presently, aCar supports Czech, Danish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Slovak and Spanish languages -- with more to come.
To change the language, tap the
icon from the Console and select Settings. Tap Units, Language & Formats underneath the General header to change your desired language. If you're still having trouble, try changing the language in your phone/tablet Settings as aCar will default to device settings in certain instances.
